Down & finished...
Looks like incumbents are dust. Last election cycle five county commissioners lost, I think maybe 5 lost in this election, too. Not sure if it's voter laziness or general dislike of the way things are going so they blame whoever is in office.
Around Fayette both Dunn and Wells lost. Dunn lost in a close one, Wells went down hard. I wasn't surprised on Wells. All it took was for the sheriff to make sure he got his guys out. It's tougher for the big number-getter in the primary to pull of a win in a run off. People look at the numbers and figure the one with the larger number will coast so they take off.
I think people who are mad go out and vote more than people who are satisfied. It's like with stores and unhappy patrons. If you're unhappy you write or call or tell your friends. When you like a store you just keep going back.
Voters aren't always real smart either much as I hate to say it. They get mad because their water bill is too high and vote to get rid of the bums. Doesn't matter if they live in the city and thats who sends their bills.
You think people know how government works? Nah.
So what do you think is going to happen around here over the next few years? Things going to get better or worse? No lawsuits or more? I know one thing for sure and that is that there will be a complete sea change in the reporting at the daily paper. They never could find anything good to say about anyone in the county commission except Frady. I bet they can't find anything negative to say about the Sheriff's guys.
Am I the only one who saw the ads at the top of the daily paper for Maxwell and Smith? Anyone ever seen them do that before? Granted, I don't pay much attention to that paper but I got curious and went back through the recycling stack and didn't see any.
