Predictions
Hey folks, don't know anyonz cares a bit but I been travelin and have missed a whole buncha bloggin. I wrote my predictions and sent em to the newspaper but they didn't get there, bounced. I was ticked thinking I spent all that time writing these things and they didn't want them. Thats the drawbacks when u're traveling and relying on strange computers and new email accounts. Anywaze, here they be, late but starting out right.
Predictions
Ol’ Herb the Frady is going to miss again on making his biggest wish come true. Hey not-my-buddy, everyone says it’s going to happen for you and your strutting around like a peacock. But I don’t think you’re going to start the new year in that middle seat. I been wrong before and I just could be wrong again. Frady has stabbed every Commission Chair in the back to get that seat. He’ll have one more chance to get it next year. Watch for more behind-the-scenes kicking and undermining by this seemingly warm and fuzzy smile at you and agree then vote against you guy.
His best new buddy Eric the Rude (or Maxwell the Mean as some call him) will try to hand it to him on a silver platter. It’s all going to hinge on the spineless wonder, Half-track Horgan. (Side note: If the Rude fails to support the Frady, he will no longer be the Frady’s buddy.)
Things are going to go down, down, down.
They’ll kill the lawsuit against the Sheriff. Things will go back to the “good-ol-days” where the Sheriff does whatever he wants. Not sure about Eric the Rude but the other guys all know how he’s ripping the tax payers but they’ll make nice with the sheriff anywaze.
Some superficial changes will be made to make a positive splash at the beginning of the new County Commission regime. Note the word superficial.
The County Commission will either add a public relations person or they’ll switch some job duties around to make it happen. They’re going to want to make sure those superficial changes get reported right so they look good.
Growth is going to increase tremendously. Developers are going to line up for rezonings and we may finally see the end of one-acre minimums in the county once sewer crosses over the lines.
The cities are going to continue to annex, annex, annex and encroach into the county until it’s impossible to see where one city ends and the next one starts.
Like days gone by, the county will acquiesce to whatever the city’s want and more of the county will disappear. Taxes will eventually rise, commercialism will run rampant and traffic will explode.
Crime is already on the rise, increasing. More and more will be moving to outward counties to get away from what is perceived as out-of-control crime growth, following the developers who’re already buying up the land waiting for them to get there.
It’s going to be sign-city. Sign ordinances either won’t be enforced or the teeth will be removed from penalties making enforcement a joke.
Road money will be more difficult to come by. The state will pull any money they can from the county and the new guys will be powerless, unable to stop it cause they won’t even know they’re doing it until it’s gone, gone, gone.
The Sheriff will resign under a cloud after Jordan sues and the dirt rises to the surface.
The “other newspaper” will write nothing but glowing reports of whatever the County Commission does unless it’s so blatant they’re forced to do some real reporting.
Logsdon will be a one-term mayor (no crystal ball needed for that one).
Everyone will discover that former Mayor Brown writes 99% of the negative stuff about Logsdon under a variety of names or through his buddies.
Mayor Sheryl Lee, Tyrone, won’t run again leaving the door open for major changes. There will be a fight for the seat between the old guard and the new.
One of two things will happen regarding the election of the County Commission Chairman. Frady will push for a rotation of chairman (like Coweta) OR he’ll push for changes in the makeup of current voting districts to equalize the numbers and to have countywide elections for the Chairman. This will leave the door open for Representative Fludd to finally get district voting. The first Democrat will be elected to the Board of Commissioners. Fayette County will no longer be one of the few Republican strongholds in the state.
Fayette County will eventually be just another metro county by the time it’s all said and done with. Me? I won’t be here, I’m following the developers trail and getting out of Dodge before it gets ridiculous.
