Flipflop Frady

Someonze gave him that monicker on an oilier blog and ah liked it, liked it. Don't know much about the books he reads, but I do know that he don't read his past votes. There's a song or twoz in there somewherz. His true colors are coming out. Note the recent vote (oooh now weez rhymin') where he couldna vote to say he didn't like an annexation. Even Hapless Horgan (yep, another liked monicker) voted with the slow-growth-trio.

We're lozing the county cauzin the cities is snappin up the land hand in hand with developers.

Peachtree City is outta money so they've got no choice. They let developers put in all these cool pools and extras but the city hazta maintain 'em. No money blues are settling in. Hence they're gonna have to annex annex annex. Need thoze taxes.

Brown had many faults and most're glad hez gone, but now he's jumping on the bandwagon saying that's why he didn't like TDK. He didn't like TDK becauzin he wuzn't in control of it. Opinion only, but thatz what blogs are about. Not sure about Logsdon yet, he seems annex crazy, hungry, gobbler.

Ol' Frady has been rumormongered to be developer friendly, held down by a three vote majority of slow growthers. Things be a changin' and we'll havealotafun (or not) seein' whether the rumors 'r correctomongo.

If it talks like a developer

I wuz wandering round the net looking at news, came across a denial by Eric Maxwell saying he wuzn't a developer. Sounds like lawyer-speak to meez. How can u have a company with the word DEVELOPEMENT in the title and say u don't wanta grow up to beez a developer? How can u be part owner in groups that are developing stuff and say u tain't no developer? Jest wondermenting.

What's with this new guy Eric?

He must be a nasty guy. The first letter I read from him in the paper had all kinds of personal negatives against Dunn. It came across as some sort of personal vendetta against him. He had a gutter attack on Dunn's wife on his website.

Then last week in the newspaper he is quoted as saying we survived Clinton for eight years so he guesses we can survive eight years of Dunn and Wells? Talk about below the belt.

What kind of guy WINS and then goes for the jugular? People with any class reach out to the person they beat. I guess I shouldn't have expected any better since he was beaming next to the Sheriff who was wearing a Dunn is Done t-shirt.

Low class. No, worse. No class.

Down & finished...

Looks like incumbents are dust. Last election cycle five county commissioners lost, I think maybe 5 lost in this election, too. Not sure if it's voter laziness or general dislike of the way things are going so they blame whoever is in office.

Around Fayette both Dunn and Wells lost. Dunn lost in a close one, Wells went down hard. I wasn't surprised on Wells. All it took was for the sheriff to make sure he got his guys out. It's tougher for the big number-getter in the primary to pull of a win in a run off. People look at the numbers and figure the one with the larger number will coast so they take off.

I think people who are mad go out and vote more than people who are satisfied. It's like with stores and unhappy patrons. If you're unhappy you write or call or tell your friends. When you like a store you just keep going back.

Voters aren't always real smart either much as I hate to say it. They get mad because their water bill is too high and vote to get rid of the bums. Doesn't matter if they live in the city and thats who sends their bills.

You think people know how government works? Nah.

So what do you think is going to happen around here over the next few years? Things going to get better or worse? No lawsuits or more? I know one thing for sure and that is that there will be a complete sea change in the reporting at the daily paper. They never could find anything good to say about anyone in the county commission except Frady. I bet they can't find anything negative to say about the Sheriff's guys.

Am I the only one who saw the ads at the top of the daily paper for Maxwell and Smith? Anyone ever seen them do that before? Granted, I don't pay much attention to that paper but I got curious and went back through the recycling stack and didn't see any.

Suing for Signs

Eric Maxwell sued the county to get unlimited signs on his yard. Don't know why he sued really cause the county was already in the midst of changing their sign ordinances. He got a temporary injunction during the campaign allowing him to put up all the signs he wanted and then he didn't put up any. Go figure. Then when the county finished up their ordinance rather than drop the lawsuit he kept on until finally they just settled with him cause it would have cost taxpayers tons of money to keep going. Why didn't he just settle if they'd already changed it? I guess so he could say he won? I guess he did cause he wouldn't do the right thing and settle and was going to carry on all the way even though in the end the court would have said it was already changed? I don't get it except maybe mean spiritness? Sooner or late someone's going to read this blog and come back with an answer.

Ugly signs

Drive into Riverdale and try to find some place. There's tons of signs all over, so many you can't see anything but a huge mess. Then political season comes and like spring weeds, more signs pop up everywhere. Sign wars.

For the first time in Fayette County we got a taste of our future. Peachtree City changed their rules to allow gigantic signs and unlimited signs. Sam Chapman and Eric Maxwell took full advantage of the change plus some. In Fayette County they changed the rules to allow for up to three signs, normal sizes, all the time. Tyrone so far has stuck to their guns but they looked the other way for Chapman and Maxwell until Dunn put his signs up, then they started grabbing them. Fayetteville pulled them up and made them stick to the rules. Or tried anyway. They couldn't pull up the signs fast enough before another one grew in its place.

While Chapman was in the race Dunn and Wells signs disappeared almost as fast as they put them up. I got where I'd drive through town one day and look at all the signs, go back the next day or the day after and all I'd see where Chapman and Maxwell, all the others pulled down.

Jack Smith got into it later. He kept putting his large signs in front of everyone elses, mimicing Chapman's technique.

They all lost some signs.

Sign wars. It makes a lot of people mad. But in their defense, how else do they get their name out? There's another blog topic - getting names out during elections!

I'm one who thinks we ought to limit signs. I think asthetics are important and community quality. I think it drops home values and sets a bad tone in the neighborhoods to have junky signs all over.

Freedom of speech says yes we must be able to have signs but we have lots of other ways to enjoy freedom of speech. I think the county had the right idea when they said three signs all year round. Why should politicians have more freedom of speech during elections than realtors or other store owners or even regular people like me?

What goes with the voters in Fayette County?

Used to be Fayette outdid the entire state when it came to voting, but now we're just like the rest of 'em.

Went and voted yesterday, early because it's easier and then I know I won't forget. Hardly anybody had voted at all.

Somebody said they're thinking maybe 5% turnout? 10% would be around 6,200, so guess we're thinking tops around 3,100 voters? So all someone has to do to win is get a little over 1500 to vote for them? What a rip.

Anyone out there care what happens to this county? Are we sliding down the slippery slope to be just like all those county's we all moved away from? Yoo hoo, voters, people who care, come out, come out where ever you are!

Who's running Fayette County?

Did anyone get a load of that ad for Jack Smith in the newspaper today? Yowzer. There's the Sheriff again. Who's running this county? Rumors are rampant about past elections the sheriff has controlled. He doesn't like someone or they start questioning what he's doing and wham, they be gone.

He's at it again. In the ad he's pictured twice, once in the middle bigger than all and again in a corner.

Whatcha wanna bet someone with a star on their shirt sooner or later shuts this blog down?????? Yup, if it goes away you'll know who done it folks. Look for the next missing person report in the paper and you'll figure out who I wuz.

Don't it make ya think a bit? No? Oh well.
